Let us introduce ourselves

Pelican Seafood Market and Grill is a full service seafood market and a seafood restaurant. We offer a wide variety of wild and responsibly farmed fish, seafood and shellfish. From sashimi grade Blue fin tuna, wild pacific salmon to fresh wild Lake Erie pickerel fillets we do our best to bring you what you need. The Market started on Merivale road in 1978 and we have continued our founder Gilles Roy’s philosophy:

“serve our customers: superior quality seafood, friendly service and good value”

We opened in our present location in 1985 and added the Grill in 1996. We focus on classic dishes that allow our fresh fish to shine. Enjoy Pan roasted Black’s harbor N.B. salmon, wild Atlantic Haddock & Pacific Halibut and plenty more.

Newly Renovated Market and Grill

We always dreamed of having an oyster bar and after 20 years our dream came true!

Our recent expansion also allowed us an expanded seating area and seafood market, an intimate private seating area and a new kitchen with another fish smoker. We were thrilled to watch Jamie & Laura from Rusty Nail Design build us a new space out of reclaimed wood and metal. Our favourite spot to eat is sitting at the bar beside the hand built draft taps.

Talk about working your way to the top. Chef James originally joined us as a dishwasher when he was 16.
After graduating from Algonquin and time at several Ottawa restaurants including working with celebrated Canadian chef John Taylor he has turned his talents to the stove at the Pelican Grill.

Lester will give you a smile and a recipe with your fish every time you visit us. He has a vast knowledge of fish and can help you whether it’s your first time in the market or a seasoned shopper looking for something new.

Emile grew up at Pelican starting as a bus boy when he was 15. A Queens Engineering Graduate he helps run the family business with a keen eye on the customer experience.



Prepared Foods & Manager

Kim and her team prepare our meals to go with care and a love for food. From Lobster Mac n’ Cheese to her seafood pies nothing leaves her kitchen without a healthy dose of flavour.
