Crab Cakes for an Afternoon Snack

Make at home crab cakes

We have a secret: we’re a sucker for a good crab cake. A cup of crab meat will give you a full 30g of protein and contains lots of zinc, a mineral that supports your immune system. But who cares about the healthy stuff when it just tastes so good?

We carry ready-made Crab Cakes in our market but you can also make your own at home for a quick weekend snack. The secret? Cheat on the details by using pancake mix!

  • Add three tablespoons of pancake mix to a bowl, along with a tablespoon of yellow mustard, 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, and a beaten egg.
  • Mix it all up and then stir in one full bag of Canadian Rock Crab Meat from our market.
  • Form the mixture into three-inch cakes.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat, deep enough to cover at least half the height of the cakes. Fry until golden, about 7-8 minutes per side.

Serve immediately, and serve often – the perfect snack to tide you over until dinnertime!
