Easy Broiled Sable with Miso Marinade
Sable's (also known as Black Cod) high-fat content makes it one of the most forgiving fish you can cook! It stays buttery even under a hot broiler, so it's hard to go wrong. Our go-to is a simple Miso Marinade that caramelizes into something special.
Easy Broiled Sable with Miso Marinade
Serves 2
You'll need:
2 Sable (Black Cod) fillets
3 tbsp white miso
2 tbsp mirin
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar or honey
1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
Directions:
Whisk the miso, mirin, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil into a smooth marinade.
Pat the fillets dry and coat them all over. Let them sit 30 minutes at room temperature, or overnight in the fridge for deeper flavour.
Set your oven to broil with the rack about 6 inches from the heat. Lay the fish on a foil- or parchment-lined tray and broil 6–9 minutes, until the top caramelizes and the fish flakes easily.
Serve over rice with cucumber salad, bok choy, or steamed greens. Finish with green onions, sesame seeds, and a squeeze of lime.
